Sanity… is for the Weak

As quoted from wikipedia:

The Bayeux Tapestry (French: Tapisserie de Bayeux) is a 50 cm by 70 m (20 in by 230 ft) long embroidered cloth—not an actual tapestry—which explains the events leading up to the 1066 Norman invasion of England as well as the events of the invasion itself. The Tapestry is annotated in Latin.

In itself interesting reading, especially for those of us in PHEMAS, but I found something else that makes use of the imagery found in the tapestry: The Historic Tale Construction Kit

Bwahahahaha!!

Humor aside though, the write-up on medieval swordsmanship in last sunday’s newspaper has certainly sparked a lot of interest in the society, and I do believe we will have a large influx of new faces at training this weekend. Hopefully, we will find new blood among these who will be passionate about the art and is willing to spend the sweat and the pain to take up swordsmanship as a life-long commitment.

Slumdog Millionaire
We caught Slumdog last night, and we totally loved it. No fancy flashy CGI, no top-billing superstars, just a ripping good yarn done with tight and unusual camera angles. At it’s heart, the movie is a highly improbably story of coincidences that leads to a (mostly) fairy-tale ending that as Anthony puts it, “surprisingly low on angst”. The big tickler was that the producers threw in the tradition of the classic Bollywood movie song-and-dance routine right at the very end, when the credits rolled.

Highly recommended ~ watch it and you’ll see that the hype is really worth the content.

FoodFebruary 12, 2009 9:13 am

We went out to Ikea on the first day of the Lunar New Year, because it was one of the places that was open for lunch (and surprisingly so was Giant!), and by chance I saw this nice self-watering pot that might go nicely in the backyard.

And so, 1 pot, 25 liters of soil and a packet of tomato seeds later….

The packet said it will sprout in about ten days… this one took five!

And here we are at week two in another spare pot I had out front:

Mmmmmm…. fresh juicy tomato for the kitchen.

It’s not *quite* self-sufficient living, but I think this will be my little contribution to greening the environment, as well as cutting down on house hold expenses.
