Finally caught The DaVinci Code on DVD. Somewhat different from the book, but in general, the story remains true to Dan Brown’s (fictional) vision of the Grail story. Many people I’ve met have lamented about how different it is from the book; but think about this: why pay hard-earned money to watch something that is exactly the same as the one you read?

Ran into an old friend last weekend; Brian.
A sulky bay
Haven’t seen him in a while (even though we “meet” online for games pretty often), since he’s had his baby ~ I suppose taking care of something that’s helpless right now is a full time committment. Here’s another sincere wish that ours will come soon. In the meantime, our dogs bring joy into our lives with the unquestioning love they show.
A contented Tess
Anyway, I also met up with Mo; and seeing as how I’d be free every Saturday afternoon from now till the end of the year as the wife has classes, we decided to try to get something going again with the old group ~ maybe some boardgames and stuff, to try and keep in touch. We’ll see how that goes.

Was surfing the ‘net and came across something that was up for sale: An abandoned US Missile Base.

Laser-Sighted Slingshot.

The PS-52 Slingshot uses a laser pointer that automatically aligns itself to the trajectory of the fired projectile. Aim the PS-52 Slingshot just like a pistol and shoot at targets with incredible accuracy. The PS-52 Slingshot uses an innovative two axis pivoting system that tracks the trajectory of the projectile based on the pouches position with respect to the fork. Thus, by pivoting the fork, a plane is created which is perpendicular to the fired projectile. Therefore, by mounting the sight on this plane, the sight will be in alignment with the fired projectile. Using the PS-52 slingshot shooters have hit cans consistently at 50 feet. The PS-52 Slingshot has a unique arm brace that reduces stress on the wrist. This allows the shooter to extend the pull of the rubber bands which provides for higher velocity shots. The PS-52’s unique arm brace and upper fork folds down to a size that is smaller than most arm brace slinghots. The PS-52 is small enough to slide into your back pocket or can be carried in your fishing box. Using the laser sight, you can accurately, quickly & effectively strike a target. Simply point the laser at your target & shoot. With the laser sight, a quick draw shot can be fired from the waist making it fun to shoot. The PS-52 Slingshot includes an open sight like those used on guns. This sight is ideal for shooting under bright sunlight conditions, where the laser sight has limited performance. The sight has a left/right and elevation adjustment.

I’m in love.

Just a quick update: looks like one of my fave actors ~ Robin Williams ~ is having a busy year; first up will be the comedy Man of the Year, followed by animated feature Happy Feet. There’s also a thriller The Night Listener by Williams, but I’m really not into scary movies, so I’ll give that a skip.

Book Mooch
Read about the Book Mooch service on Tomorrow as posted by ketsugi, and I thought it was something worth joining ~ seeing as how I’ve got tons of books collected over the years. In fact, not one day since I’ve put a few books up on the site and I’ve already got someone asking for two of them!

However, the idea of sending off books in the mail to someone else in the tiny island we call home does sound a little… excessive. Does anyone know how much package post costs!?! We’re proposing a Singapore Mooch Use’s meetup (perhaps we should call it a “Mooch-Up” :D ) and do a direct book-swap ~ hope this works out…

You’ve Experienced 68% of Life

You have all of the life experience that most adults will ever get.
And unless you’re already in your 40s, you’re probably wise beyond your years.

Interesting. Not shocking, but interesting.

Wise beyond my years eh? Does that mean I have a Wisdom of 18 / +4, and should have been a cleric? Oh, wait. I *am* a Cleric in DDO.

Finally a chance to slow down and take things easy.

Went for lunch at Liva Life over at South Buoma Vista. It’s a little ice cream shop that sells great asian-inspired sandwhiches over the weekends as well. All made fresh on the spot, right down to the fries ~ a set meal of Sandwhich + fries + drink will set you back about $7~8. A little hidden gem in a quiet little shopping centre. We’ll be back there again for the ice cream!

After picking up the wifey from her classes, we decided to explore the little eateries over at Gillman Village, where the famous “Little Bali” is located. It’s a quaint and charming place that hides many gems, among which was The Turquoise Room where we had dinner. It’s not immediately visible, as you’ll have to walk down a short flight of stairs to the main door, but we were drawn by the dazzling white paint job and soothing chill-out music piped out form the speakers. It’s interior, however had a rough, unfinished look to it that gave it a feeling of stripping to the bare essentials; however, the food was anything but! i get the feeling that we’ll return, and the next time we’ll be trying the impressive looking wine collection they have.
