You’re not a sociopath, but you’re very prone to antisocial behavior.

Fnially got some time to sit down and clear a bit of my anime DVD backlog :D

Karas (The Crow), was dark, chaotic and had some very, very exiciting sequences. However, the plot was not very clear from the beginning, and only partly made sense towards the end of part 1. The technical excellence of it’s CG animation is impressive, to say the least, and I think I’ll be looking forward to the next installment to see what happens next.

Also, I managed to get my grubby lil’ hands on Final Fantasy: Advent Children. *woohoo!*
Looks like I’ll be spending my weekends with the DVD player for some time to come!

Also, here’s a new product from m80: Street Fighter II, The Animated Movie.

Went for a farm tour organised by wifey’s CPA committee on saturday. It’s very different out in the countryside over Kranji/Lim Chu Kang way ~ just greenery as far as the eye can see, and no sign of the city anywhere ~ not that I have good memories of the place… all it reminds me of was topo training back in OCS… like the time they took us in a covered-up 3-tonner and dropped us off in the middle of the Choa Chu Kang Cemetary and told us to find our own way back…

Our first stop was Hay Dairies, where they supply Singapore’s demand of fresh goat’s milk. It’s hard to believe, but they have about 1000 goats on the premises.
Kid. As in, young goat.Milking goats
Looking at these goats, I now understand why people sometimes mistake our dogs for goats….

Second stop was Qian Hu Fish Farm.
GoldfishFish Tanks
I like fish, and I used to have a tank when younger, but now I can’t think of having any other pet except dogs. These days, I get my fish-watching kicks from diving.

Finally, we stopped for lunch at Poison Ivy Bistrol, a little eatery in a farm named Bollywood Veggies, operated by the very vocal Mrs Ivy Singh-Lim and her husband.
Poison Ivy BistrolBananas for sale!
It’s a little out of the way, but the food served there is organically grown on the farm ~ very healthy! Well worth a visit, especially for a totally different experience from the city.

Funny thing was, before we started eating, Ivy was telling us not to tell the PAP about the countryside, as they don’t want a lot of buildings out there… and in walks Dr Yaccob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, with his family for lunch. *snigger*

Seriously though, it was a very nice day out and it great to have seen and experienced a side of Singapore that’s almost lost and forgotten. Try it, and you might be surprised!

AngKuGuay: Thanks man! First gotta find time for it!

Went out with some friends for dinner at the Prata Cafe and some quiet (which got louder as the vino poured) drinks over at the Wine Company which was just next door.

One thing led to another and we ended up at Velvet. Hoo… it’s been a while since we went partying, and thus waking up with a hangover this moning.

Alcohol consumed:
2 glasses of Gewürztraminer
1 glass of South African Red with the unlikely name of Goat Roti
2 shots of Slippery Nipple
2 glasses of Vodka Red Bull
3 shots of Tequila
1 glass of Beer

Madness aside, the Wine Company is a place with great ambience and very reasonable prices, not to mention wonderful wine. Highy recommended!

Caught Cars last night, in a *very* quiet cinema. No surprise there, as it’s the opening night of the World Cup 2006. Funny thing ~ wifey seems to take the fact that I’m not soccer-mad as a matter of fact; I mean, just look at all the complaints and articles every time the Worl Cup comes around from the “soccer widows”(!)

Am I strange? *shrugs*

Anyway, Cars was a good movie, with the high production values you’d expect from Pixar. It’s a heart-warming tale of redemption and finding out what’s really important and all those other “warm, fuzzy feelings” kinda movie. What really tickled me was instead of the usual “out takes” at the end of the movie you’d expect from the previous works, they recycled scenes from the previous productions (Monster Inc, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story), but with car models. Very funny shit.

Verdict: 4/5 ~ go watch it… if you’re still awake from staying up all night watching 20 men running around chasing a ball….

'nuff said
Strike curb also can pass… must thank my lucky stars!

I thought I’d failed after striking the curb during parking, so I threw caution to the winds and just drove any-old-how, even out on the roads after exiting the circuit. Surprisingly I still managed to scrape by ~ I suppose after that I totally relaxed when I sort of gave up and just drove; I mean, we didn’t even follow the route we were supposed to go!

Anyway, not complaining ~ next up, a bike licence with wifey so that we can get a cute little Vespa and go zooming around!

Caught X-Men 3 earlier over at Eng Wah Suntec ~ great movie!

However, I don’t think we’ll be going beck to that movie theater anytime soon… the floors were… sticky; like somebody spilled their soft drinks on the floor and the staff did not clean it up… ever. And I had such high hopes for the “Digital Cinema” concept. ~sigh~

I suppose it’e not just the hardware that will draw the crowds, the software (people) that work the industry does play a large part in upkeeping the image of a clean, friendly and enjoyable movie experience.

Oh, and we caught Mission: Impossible 3 over at the Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast. It’s pretty expensive for tickets there, but I suppose part of the reaons we enjoy (relatively) cheaper movie tickets here in Asia is probably the pervalence and easy access to pirated DVD’s in the region ~ if the cinemas charge any more than they do, just about every one and their grandma would be buying pirated discs rather than paying for the movie tickets.
