Finally got my camera back, as I left it at the in-law’s after coming back from KL.

First up is Jalan Petaling, where KL’s Chinatown is loacted. Here, among the hustle and bustle, you can get just about anything ~ imitation bags, watches, toys, pirated DVD’s and games ~ for a low price, provided you’re willing to bargain.

I’ve realised that the stall owners’ reaction to any customers invariably fall into four phases:
They will try to lure the potential buyer by showing off the goods and attracting attention, hoping that you’ll be interested.
This is the fun part, where you match wits with the dealer, trying to get the best possible price for yourself while he tries his best to rip you off.
Now that you’ve gotten him down to a reasonable price (usually by pretending to walk away), he will try pleading with you for sympathy for “a few Ringgit more”. It’s really optional if you wish to be a hard hearted S.O.B. and deny this last chance to make a little more money.
At this point, if you still don’t buy the stuff after slashing the price with your bargaining powers, they’ll curse or scold you.
I have it on good authority that the “right” amount to pay for these guys is t0 first offer half of what ever they quote, dicker for a little while and finally settle at 60% of his quote.
Anyway, I also took the opportunity to take a look at KL’s Central Market:

This historic building was built in 1928 and used to be a wet market. But now, it has been transformed into a Arts & Crafts centre where traditional items and souvenirs, as well as antiques can be found. Prices are a little more expensive, but it’s a good place to see what’s available before looking for cheaper alternatives elsewhere.
That’s it for now. See ya!
