Just doing a little A/V update before we fly ~ added the Basement Jaxx Singles; their stuff is actually pretty good, right now listening to “Good Luck”.

We finally managed to catch Sin City on Sat. And we came out of the theater… impressed. Done more-or-less the same way as Sky Captain and the Wold of Tomorrow, in that it was shot mainly on a false screen and background added in later. However, the actors didn’t seem to have the disjointed-ness that was evident in Sky Captain. Acting was pretty much top notch, especially from Mickey Rourke as Marv. The action follows the books pretty much scene for scene, and in typical Frank Miller over-the-top testerone man-talk. It’s pretty cool to read it in the comics, but it seems rather… funny on the big screen. However, there seems to be several clues for a possible sequel: Becky, who was supposed to be killed in “The Big Fat Kill” survives at the end ~ and get this, she has blue eyes… does that mean that she’ll turn up again in Sin City 2, as the killer “Blue Eyes”? That’ll be cool - because of all the books in the series, “The Hard Goodbye” and “Hell and Back” appealed to me the most.

Seems like Jessica Alba’s star is shining bright. First in Fantastic 4, and now in Sin City (although her’s was pretty much the only character that did not -quite- stick to the books… no topless bar-top-lasso-dancing routine… *sigh*). In any case, still still looks HWAT!

We caught a trailer for a russian (of all places) movie that looked rather interesting - Night Watch. It seems like this Moscow production can actually give Hollywood a run for their money, just judging from the F/X in the trailer. Something about the war from acient times between the armies of Light and Darkness, and how a truce was made… an now broken. I hope that it’s not some subbed version that’s gonna be shown ~ foreign films just feel wierd when dubbed; don’t believe me? Try watching the original Godzillas or any 70’s Hong Kong Chopsocky Martial Arts films… in English!

Anyway, I’m off to the showers. See ya!
